What Makes Interlake Distinctive
Interlake is home to Bellevue School District’s Advanced Learning program, the district’s path for highly capable students, and it’s the district’s International Baccalaureate school. Its students consistently rank among the highest performers in the state, and the school has a long track record of National Merit recognition and strong college placement.
The defining feature is the accelerated IB path. Advanced Learning students complete the full IB Diploma in 10th and 11th grade, a year ahead of the standard IB timeline, which frees up senior year for college-level coursework and internships. It’s a remarkable opportunity, and it asks a great deal of the students who take it on.
What Interlake Students Work On With Us
The accelerated timeline is where we help most. Compressing the IB Diploma into sophomore and junior year means the pace is relentless and there’s very little room to fall behind. When a student hits a hard stretch in a core IB subject, catching it early is everything, because the material keeps building and the calendar doesn’t pause.
The courses that most often bring Interlake families to us are IB Math, at both Standard and Higher Level, and the IB sciences, particularly Physics and Chemistry, where the quantitative demands are heavy. We also work with students in the standard, non-AL track at Interlake, who carry a demanding load of their own.
Because Interlake is a high-pressure environment, we pay as much attention to how a student is doing as to what they’re studying. A capable kid under real stress needs a tutor they trust and can be honest with, not one more source of pressure.
